The Black Yoga Fest (BYF) was born in 2023 hosted at the Kirkwood Community Center (Wilmington, DE) with a mission to elevate wellness in the Black community and support future yoga leaders. In just one day, we raised over $1,000 for the Black Yoga Teacher Training Scholarship (BYTT).
What began as a grassroots event has now grown into a biannual wellness fundraising and event—bringing together wellness lovers, facilitators, creatives, entrepreneurs, and everyday people committed to mindful movement, connection, and empowerment.
The Black Yoga Teacher Training (BYTT) Scholarship was created to provide financial assistance to Black and Brown individuals pursuing their 200-hour YTT certification. Our goal is to alleviate barriers and make yoga more accessible, inclusive, and representative.
In 2024, our first scholarship recipient, Velora Queen, completed her certification at Yoga Chitta in Philadelphia, PA. Today, we have funded three scholarship recipients to earn their certification and facilitate in the professional realm of yoga.
🖤 100% of proceeds from BYF events support this scholarship fund.
Mark your calendar for the Fall Black Yoga Fest in the city of brotherly love, Philly! We're ending 2026 with a two day wellness fundraising event. October 24 - 25 join us as we bridge together Philly and Wilmington, Delaware to empower future wellness leaders.
